A Favorite Place

The New River Trading Company was located at 117 South Main Street, and eventually became a very popular bar. We'll talk about that one later. This great little store sold Levis and other clothing in 1970. I bought a lot of jeans and corduroys there, for about 5 bucks apiece.

  1. It was the first place I shopped after I moved to Blacksburg.

  2. P.S. I still have a tie dyed tunic I bought there.

  3. Wow, that's a relic then! I don't have a single pair of jeans or cords from there because I was a 30" waist and those days are LONG gone.

  4. I have a photo of Bullwinkle (Bob Sommerall) somewhere. He was a friend back in the day, will have to find it so it can be posted here.

  5. Bought all my jeans there and later worked at 117. I can still see Mark Finley behind the counter of NRTC! Thanks for the memories!
