One of my favorite places in town, located on Draper Road where the Rivermill now operates. Bought most of my albums there, and spent many hours reading there too. On hot summer days my little beagle dog named Ajax was known to hang out on the cool concrete floor.
This photo was actually an ad in the Collegiate Times. An old friend of mine, Alma Henry, is facing on the right.
I remember Alma Henry, met her through some friends.
ReplyDeleteAlma is living in DC at the present time. She still looks the same to me.
ReplyDeleteI took this photo, that is Susan
ReplyDeleteAppleby (later married Bob Davis, who also worked there)
Cool!! Do you have any more 70's photos of Blacksburg?
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I both knew Alma back then, hope she is doing well.
ReplyDeleteShe is, Nick. I saw her a couple of years ago.
ReplyDeletePass on my wife (Sherry) and my regards, she will probably remember us, I seem to recall she worked for a while at the Radford Arsenal.
DeleteRichard was a friend and I worked with Alma at the Coffeehouse: upstairs from Neilly's bookstore: later named the Meeting Place. such great memories!
ReplyDeleteThis place was heaven on earth. I spent hours in there. I've missed it ever since it closed.
