Hardees
Here is a nice old picture of Hardees when it was up next to the old high school on South Main. Thanks to Brian MacInnis for sending.
Worked there with some many other BHS townies! Mike Brown was the manager when I was there and Barney Hall was the Assistant Manager. Shelby was another manager.
I remember dashing there from the school when class let out for the day, trying to grab fries & a drink for the bus ride home. The place was a madhouse every afternoon at that time.
Tried to get a part time job in there one time to get a little extra spending cash. They said I was hired, but I'd have to shave off my beard. I never showed up. 8-]
In the mid 60s there was also a place called the Dog and Suds. The Suds was for root beer. It was along that same area maybe where the Red Carpet Inn is located (Main and Marlington St). The canopy on the right as you look at the motel may have been the canopy however it doesn't match the other ones I've found on the web
